September 4th 2006 - The Guardian Newspaper - "MTV owners ward off Pet Boutique"
The Guardian Newspaper report on the aggressive stance taken by MTV owners Viacom as complaints are made by them about the stores original name. When the store first opened its doors - it was named 'Pimp My Pet'. Lawyers from the music channel claimed that the copyright for Pimp My Ride - a programme in which old bangers are elaborately customised to resemble cars owned by us rap stars - was being infringed and ordered us to change our name. Having taken legal advice we were told that whilst the owners of MTV don't have a leg to stand on and that we could challenge them on their bullyboy tactics. - We opted to change our name as our new venture needed Lizzie's energies to be focused upon getting the store up and running - not fighting a multi million dollar corporation!
